Bighorn Sheep: The Symbol of Rocky

Great Horned Owl
Elk Challenge
Pine Squirrel
Wapiti (Elk)

Bighorn sheep are the living symbol of the wild backcountry of Rocky. Lately, concerns have been raised regarding the diminishing numbers of sheep in certain areas of the park due to disease. This seminar will take place in the backcountry and explore the natural history of bighorn sheep. Take a hike up to Specimen Mountain on the west side of the Continental Divide to seek out these elusive mammals. Chances are good that we will see the sheep at an important lambing area and mineral lick.
