The weather changes frequently so be prepared for wind, rain, lightning, snow and hail throughout the summer.

Open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, weather permitting. The Roosevelt National Forest Service Visitor Center in Idaho Springs offers a self-guided tour tape, guide book and Junior Ranger program for a nominal fee.

• A fee is charged for the upper section
• Vehicles over 30 feet are not recommended.
